This explains what Amader Community collects, why, and what you can do. The site is run by Md Tanvir, Sydney, Australia.
What we collect
- Your profile: email address, first, middle and last name, mobile number (optional), suburb, state and postcode.
- What you post: posts, Discussion messages, private messages, photos and videos, and reports you make.
- Safety records: reports about posts or members, and what moderators did about them.
- Technical data: basic information needed to sign you in and keep the site working.
Who can see what
- Anyone can see active posts, including the suburb. Only signed-in members can see the name a post is shown under.
- When you post a job, housing, event or business, your name from your account shows on it, unless you tick "Post anonymously", in which case it shows as "Anonymous member". Other members cannot see who is behind an anonymous post. Moderators can, and we keep that record so we can deal with scams and abuse.
- The Discussion always shows your real name.
- Private messages can only be read by the two members in the conversation. Moderators cannot read them, even if the conversation is reported. A report tells moderators which member you are reporting and your reason. If you attach screenshots or videos as proof, moderators can see those files, and only those.
- Only signed-in members can see the Discussion, and member contact details.
- Your email and mobile are shown on a post only if you tick the option for that post, and never on an anonymous post. Otherwise people contact you by private message.
- Moderators can see reports, and posts and messages that have been removed.
Why we use it
To run the site: sign you in with an emailed code, show your posts, search by suburb and distance, keep members safe, and reply to you. We do not sell your information and we do not show ads.
Where it is stored
Your information is stored with our database provider, Supabase, in Sydney, Australia. We use an email service to send sign-in codes. These providers handle data for us only to run the site. They may use systems outside Australia, so some data could be processed overseas.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, posts, Discussion and private messages, and uploaded photos and videos. We keep only records needed to keep the community safe (for example, that a member was banned and why). Banned accounts cannot be deleted.
Your choices
- You can change your details on your account page, and edit or delete any post, including who can see your email and mobile on it.
- You can delete your own posts and Discussion messages at any time.
- You can delete your whole account yourself at the bottom of the My account page.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or make a complaint, by emailing us (see Contact). If you are not happy with our reply, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Keeping it safe
Access to member information is limited by sign-in and by rules in the database. No website is perfectly secure, so please use an email account only you can access, and do not share sign-in codes.
